YES, STEFF; IT IS WHO YOU THINK IT IS: Vicious World 1.21 & 1.22
Okay, so when I said it would be online at 3PM, I meant sometime around 3 CENTRAL Standard Time. Actually, I've not been feeling well today, and combined with the rainy weather, I've been extra-fatigued.

Anyway, without further ado, here's the newest, newest pages:

(Re)introducing Dana Dane, the very tall Irish half-sister of the notorious Dante Dane. :D
I'll post about contest stuff in another post. I really need to lie down. D:

  Vicious World is BACK! 1.19 & 1.20
After a rather abrupt hiatus due to what was a really lackluster AWA, Vicious World is back, ladies and gentlemen! I promised that there would be four pages, and I intend to fulfill it, but I'm going to do this a bit differently: 1.19 and 1.20 are now live, and 1.21 & 1.22 will go live Sunday at 3:00pm EST!

So, let's not waste time, and get rolling with the first half of a big update!

...three guesses who that is.
Anyway! Next update will be later today, including details about the contest (FINALLY), among other things!

  DOUBLE-POST! RE: Archives
I've been getting this request a lot (and with good reason), so just to give you guys a heads up, I will be working on getting a proper archive up on the main website (http://vicious-violet.com) hopefully by Sunday's update, if not shortly afterwards.

Once again, I (finally) reply to your comments
Hoo-boy! Okay, so now that AWA is gone and over with (Thank GOD), I am finally back together enough to catch up on comments, so let's waste no time:

Brett: You got it! It's still my favourite Seong-Ho shirt. :D
You make a good point about the details I have to put into public settings. It's getting easier to draw background people, though perhaps a cameo or two once in a while couldn't hurt, either...!

Razer: OH SHI-THE LOCKER DOOR IS DISPLEASED

Cary: Everyone seems to have fallen into favour with Chris and his glasses! I appreciate your comment about the background details, as well. Makes all those late nights really, really worth it! I also appreciate your comment about the expressions; I try to keep even non-action scenes interesting, and there's no better way than with different expressions (well, except maybe different expressions coupled with good dialogue!)!

Giuly_Chan: I'll put you down as another who is a fan of Chris and his glasses. :D I'm quite glad you find Tadasuke adorable; I feel now that I am improved as an artist, I can better capture that trait than when I drew him back in 2005 and 2006.

Psychoblue: I did get a bit excessive with that particular face, and in one case, the original panel didn't consist of such a face, but I changed it at the last second, and being pressed for time, I went with the first thing that came to mind. I don't think I'll be repeating that any time soon!

Steff: B-b-but I don't know how to stop designing awesome clothes! :P Tadasuke's outfits are pretty fun to draw since I love rave-style clothing, and buffalo check patterns aren't so tedious once you get used to drawing them. And yes; Chris is looking kinda studious there. ^.~

zipchan: ...and that's another who loves Chris in glasses...! XD

Erika: It was really only a matter of time before I brought them into continuity! I think what makes Tadasuke's facial expressions so darned adorable is the way his face is generally structured. I try to draw him with rounder cheeks to emphasise his cuteness. And no; Chris won't let Seong-Ho live that loss down, because he's such a dick like that. XD

Adam: Hey, you! I'll add you to the "Chris+Glasses=YES!" camp! I'm glad you're still enjoying this so far. The action's just underway, of course!

  Here's what's going on
...I'm skipping this week's update as I'm just utterly exhausted between AWA prep and AWA drama. I will post 1.19 & 1.20 along with 1.21 & 1.22 together--that's right; FOUR PAGES next time.

I will also reply to reader comments, but only after I get some sleep.

  Vicious World: 1.17 & 1.18!
Hot on the heels of AWA, I've got another update--and on time, no less! I will be posting details regarding the update schedule for 19 & 20, but for now, let's enjoy a glimpse at the school life that Chris and Seong-Ho endure...oh say, a Tadasuke is fine, too!

This marks the first canonical appearance of Chris in his glasses (it's only ever appeared in sketches and artwork), as well as the study hall setting. Public settings are difficult for me since I have to draw all sorts of background people. Hopefully I can become more comfortable with this as I go along.

(Also, locker door callback!)

That Reader Reply Thing I Do (Also, no preview this week)
Okay, so I'm horrendously late with this thing, but with good reason: AWA is less than a week away, so for the time being all of my efforts are being shifted towards this convention (I will post my location in the Artist Alley in Sunday's update!)...and this WILL affect the update that should take place on 9/19, aswell as the long overdue contest announcement. More on that later, though! Reader replies are go:

Cary: If Myko can stab with it, he'll stab with it. Especially screwdrivers.

As for the torture, sometimes you gotta do whatever it takes to remind people where they stand on the urban food chain! I'm glad you're liking the faces--hopefully the next installment shall not disappoint!

sous: It's no secret that I love drawing faces, and with some characters I get a little extra enjoyment as I can draw them with certain faces that I can't get away with drawing on the others. With Myko, I can draw him looking psychotic as it best suits his character. He enjoys torturing more than he probably should...and once I reveal some further character details on him, he'll prove to be just one twisted little cruller.

I don't blame you for not getting too far; Dante seems to do well in diverting everyone--I guess I subconsciously decided to bring Myko in first. ^^ Anyway, I'm glad his first impression has counted quite a bit!

Brett: Oh, he certainly will. He has one of the more twisted personalities, albeit more in his actions than his general demeanor. He knows how to use a screwdriver, but certainly not the way it's intended!

Psychoblue: Even though it's merely an online comic, I hope that my attention to details and backgrounds will give me an edge. I do appreciate the vote of confidence.

As for my shading, I really owe it to my high school art teacher, who wouldn't stop reminding me that I needed to pay more attention to my values. But seriously, thank you. Also, I did receive your message on TN; I read over the outline and will give it another once-over before I form an opinion.

satia: Oh, you are truly too kind to me in that regard. Hopefully your campaigning will get a few more people turned on and tuned in.

Rennard: Oh man, I didn't think someone would take notice, let alone appreciate it! That is fantastic.

With Myko, I felt that he had a lot of potential to be something beyond as simple as a villian. An antagonist, certainly, but it wouldn't necessarily have to be due to his being a "villian". Having said that, his relationship with Dante will still be quite strained, at best. Since he wasn't a favourite of yours, I hope you'll be able to notice the changes I've made to him!

Steff: As I've mentioned to some of the others, I really liked Myko and really wanted to bring out his full potential. I feel that introducing him in this way gives the reader a solid idea that he's quite extreme...ly unhinged at times.

Erika: Fabulously late entrances are always welcome! I knew you would be most pleased to see his surprise return. He's going to be a very important player in this arc, so I hope you stay tuned. ^^ Thanks for the kind words!

Razer: Oh, you are just ca-ray-zee. :P But when it comes to an entrance, Myko delivers. And then he delivers a screwdriver into someone's hands or some such. D:

  Vicious World 1.15 & 1.16!
Hello my lovelies! It's time for another update, which is a bit late, but on time (hey, it's still Sunday here!). For those not in the know, I've been at Dragon*Con, which is the most fantastic, fabulous costume party in the Southeast!

Anyway, let's go ahead and deliver that fix you all crave:
...and there's your next character--some of you remember him from the old version; for those of you new, he's none other than Tomohiko "Myko" Suda. As with Tadasuke, I'm reconfiguring his purpose in the series. As you can see, he's made a torture victim out of the guy that was trying to break into the building from earlier. Matters regarding the incident will be made more clear as the story goes, of course.

Anyway--two pages await next week! And contest news will be posted Monday!

Reader Response RE: 1.13 & 1.14; Also: PREVIEW
It's that time again, ladies and gents--reader replies and a sneak of this weekend's pages! Annnnd here we go:

Satia: Sometimes, a guy in a coat is just a guy in a coat.
(Or is he?)
(No, he's just a guy.)
(Or maybe he's not just a guy.)
(*cryptic music*)

Cary: I figure in this day and age of internet culture, "trollface" would be a very apt term that people would use IRL (well; I use it anyway.).

I'm glad you've taken an interest in this potential rivalry. My plans are to properly develop it, though given Tadasuke's rather light nature, it won't be anything that could take a turn for the SUPER serious. ^.~

And you can definitely expect more good-natured ribbing between Seong-Ho and Tadasuke. XD Glad you liked this week's installment!

Rennard: I admit; much of Seong-Ho's wacky antics are based on that of some of the wacky Korean people I know. He's more fun to write than he probably should be. XD

The U-HaulHawl gag just seemed a good means of showing just how serious Tadasuke's subplot is...though that's not to say he'll be a gag character by any means. That's Seong-Ho's bag. XD Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the pages!

Steff: Ohhhh, that social time did me some good. I'll be doing it again at Dragon*Con; relevant details to come soon. ^.~

If he can't kick Chris in the face, he'll...he'll just show that can who's top tier! YEAAAAHHH!!

Brett: As I said to Satia, it could just be a random guy...or I could be pulling one of those numbers where something seemingly insignificant becomes a big thing further down the road. ^.~

I'm all about referring to Seong-Ho as Trollface. Troll-chan would also be acceptable, except that title belongs to a character from another fandom. XD

Razer: Methinks Seong-Ho will be known for trollfais'an...that is, if he uses it often enough. XD And yeah; Tadasuke's wristbands are based on Xiaoyu's...probably the only thing about Xiaoyu that I like.

HEY DON'T SPOIL THE ENDING

Right; so let's get a preview going for the next installment; 1.15 and 1.16. You'll want to recall the first two pages, if you forgot what happened (and I wouldn't blame you guys for forgetting since Chris was nowhere to be seen on those pages):

The next character gets introduced in these pages. I will say this much; this guy is absolutely screwed.

...I will be posting an update about Dragon*Con, as well as a contest soon!
