Vicious World: Updates Sundays!
Replies to VW 1.27 & 1.28
Okay, so I know I'm running very late with this as the update is less than two hours away, but better late than never, right (though anyone who follows my devArt knows why my activity has been reduced...)?
Razer: Seong-Ho's faces are probably second only to Chris. Maybe. And speaking of, a hell of a greeting indeed!
I really hope I don't lose touch with my characters. I just feel like they're not as remarkable as they were to me all those years ago. I do plan on taking a hiatus after the chapter wraps up, especially because of the
Five Four Weeks of Hell.
"PENAS". Oh my god. That needs to be the word verification all the time. XD
Satia: I appreciate the advice. I think the holidays would be a good time to just take it easy for the time being and figure out what my next move should be.
Rennard: Chris' Vicious L'il streak is just a sample of what's coming very shortly down the road (or whenever the next episode starts up). That skateboard would definitely cause some pain if applied in the right way!
Thank you for relating your own experience with me, too. I know you've been working really hard at getting Reign to work! It just gets hard to have to focus on just this when my muses want me to work on other things too.
Curiously enough, you're not the first to suggest I post content other than the comic, which leads me to believe that it's a good idea! And now that you mention it, I've seen and enjoyed those shorts you do, so this is something I think would be okay to try. :D
I'm glad you've been enjoying my hard work thus far, and again, thank you for your input. It's been really hard, especially as my muse just isn't anywhere to be found. D:

Replies to the Readers, MEGA UPDATE Edition!
Okay, so I'm quite late with the replies, but I am doing it now~! There was quite a lot that went down within four seemingly small pages, namely the (re)introduction of Dana Dane, half-sister of the notorious Dante Dane (just when IS he appearing, anyway?!).
Anyway, let's make with the replies:
Brett: Although I love drawing faces on certain characters for different reasons, Tadasuke is one of the most fun to draw because he can be utterly adorkable. :D
As for Ms. Dana, she's got a presence in and of itself--then again, it's not hard when you practically tower over everyone! Seong-Ho is pretty much smitten in the goofiest way possible.
Razer: Better luck next time. ^.~ And Seong-Ho is perfectly okay with this encounter. DEM TITS INDEED.
(Also, thank you!)
Steff: If it weren't for AWA, I could have built hype for our favourite Irish lady, though I think springing her in as a surprise is just as good. I'm quite pleasantly surprised by the feedback I've gotten about her, though for you it's expected. Thanks for supporting her forever, by the way!
Rennard: Seong-Ho is just absolutely goofy for Dana at the moment (though I wonder how he'll feel if he ever finds out who her brother is...)! Things are definitely picking up now (we're actually still on the first episode, too!), and you know that where Dana is, Dante isn't too far behind. Yes, this is foreshadowing on my part.
dora: Yay! I feel that I have a better grasp on Dana's look now, though I intend to fine-tune her some more. Anyway~~I know you were always fond of her, so I'm glad that you're happy to see her again.
zipchan: I was wondering how long it would take before someone saw what I did there. XD
hunty: An 80s rapper? Now I'm gonna have to look this up, because that could potentially be the best obscure reference ever. I'm glad you like my outfit designs on guys--men are so much harder to dress since their options are so limited compared to what women have, and there's also the added degree of maintaining a sense of individuality with each wardrobe. One of the things I'm really glad about working on comics again is that I get to draw expressions much more regularly, so hopefully they'll continue to improve.
Cary: Last, but never least!
I think 'Natural Height...!" is the comment of the week for this set! Irish accents *are* hot, so feel free to just imagine this as often as you want!
As for the old series, it's not necessarily a must-read since it's not in continuity with the new, but it's good if only to get a bit of a feel of the cast (and to laugh at how bad my work used to look. My God.).
If I keep getting any more remarks about the clothing, I'm just gonna have to get the motivation to work on a fashion-type book! Mind you, I appreciate the praise!
Right, then! Sunday's update is around the corner. I will say this right out; no new characters will be introduced, but I do promise more reaction faces, and a big hint as to who WILL be appearing next weekend (Sunday, October 10).
Also, I'm working on the archive system, though
satia, if you're reading this, I know you had something to offer as far as input goes. I'd love to hear your ideas as I'm willing to try anything, so long as readers can properly catch up!

Once again, I (finally) reply to your comments
Hoo-boy! Okay, so now that AWA is gone and over with (Thank GOD), I am finally back together enough to catch up on comments, so let's waste no time:
Brett: You got it! It's still my favourite Seong-Ho shirt. :D
You make a good point about the details I have to put into public settings. It's getting easier to draw background people, though perhaps a cameo or two once in a while couldn't hurt, either...!
Razer: OH SHI-THE LOCKER DOOR IS DISPLEASED
Cary: Everyone seems to have fallen into favour with Chris and his glasses! I appreciate your comment about the background details, as well. Makes all those late nights really, really worth it! I also appreciate your comment about the expressions; I try to keep even non-action scenes interesting, and there's no better way than with different expressions (well, except maybe different expressions coupled with good dialogue!)!
Giuly_Chan: I'll put you down as another who is a fan of Chris and his glasses. :D I'm quite glad you find Tadasuke adorable; I feel now that I am improved as an artist, I can better capture that trait than when I drew him back in 2005 and 2006.
Psychoblue: I did get a bit excessive with that particular face, and in one case, the original panel didn't consist of such a face, but I changed it at the last second, and being pressed for time, I went with the first thing that came to mind. I don't think I'll be repeating that any time soon!
Steff: B-b-but I don't know how to stop designing awesome clothes! :P Tadasuke's outfits are pretty fun to draw since I love rave-style clothing, and buffalo check patterns aren't so tedious once you get used to drawing them. And yes; Chris is looking kinda studious there. ^.~
zipchan: ...and that's another who loves Chris in glasses...! XD
Erika: It was really only a matter of time before I brought them into continuity! I think what makes Tadasuke's facial expressions so darned adorable is the way his face is generally structured. I try to draw him with rounder cheeks to emphasise his cuteness. And no; Chris won't let Seong-Ho live that loss down, because he's such a dick like that. XD
Adam: Hey, you! I'll add you to the "Chris+Glasses=YES!" camp! I'm glad you're still enjoying this so far. The action's just underway, of course!

Replies to 1.5-7; No preview (PLEASE READ)
Okay, so it's time to do the replying thing that I do. There's no preview this week, and I will explain why after I reply to everyone:
Razer: And thus the two most notorious characters begin making their way into the series. :D And yes; locker door! Which will likely spark off something of a running gag.
animeandraia: D'oh! I should go and correct that. D:
Well, if reading excessive yaoi manga has caused you to see things out of context, I won't stop you. :P
And it says a lot about the people in Ridgeport if they can casually discuss someone beaing beaten with a locker door, hahaha. Thanks for the comments about the expressions.
As for your predictions...at least one of them may be true. ^.~
Brett: I've always wanted an excuse for Chris to shout "PEESASHIT!" And you just might have to play that song, especially on the occasion that Chris beats someone senseless.
Yukari's friends are indeed an adorable bunch. I think Nozomi pulls off the side ponytail pretty well. *of course, that's in my biased opinion.*
Sheila: Everyone loves the locker door panel! I may have to see what I can do to make it more than just a mere passing remark! Yukari is easily the head of the pack--she's always sincere, and takes charge simply because she can. I'm sure she's already proven to be above the schoolgirl stereotype in that aspect.
I haven't been in high school in a decade, but the gossip aspect, while I never really partook in it, can make for good dialogue when need be. Thanks!
Satia: That reminds me; I lack sufficient Edward Gorey books in my collection of things. D: I figured it would be easier to identify blood as blood if I coloured it red. Pretty morbid of me, I know. Also, I failed to clarify, but the girls aren't twins. They're supposed to be cousins, but I guess I need to try harder to differentiate the two. D:
Thank you for the comments on the expressions, too.
Leaf-nin: Chris can be a smarmy bastard. Looking at it compared to the rest of what I have, this introduction fits perfectly with the arc's theme. And thank you for the remark about the locker incident!
Erika: I think the fact that they're serious and goofy at once makes them come across more like people. I appreciate your noticing! AND YAY FOR CHRIS INDEED.
Steff: And that's why I love you. :D And it does seem like I introduce someone new every week--in fact, there's another person to be introduced this weekend!
Jonathan: I won't lie; it'll be a minute before Dante shows up, but he'll be, well, Dante. As for Odachi, I think I had told you last AWA that I wanted to step up her role, and by establishing out the gate that she has a serious interest in the matter at hand, she's pretty much set to be a main. Thanks as always for the comment!
Adam: Hey, hon! I really appreciate your checking out my pages! I always try to do my best to make each character interesting through detailed expressions and just plain details, so thank you for your input.
NO PREVIEW THIS WEEK: The short of it is that I have a serious deadline pertaining to AWA to meet by the end of the weekend, and work has really drained and caused me some serious fatigue. :/ There will be pages this Sunday, though! I just couldn't get myself to scan them in and edit a little preview, and I apologise. Hopefully next week will go more smoothly. Thanks for bearing with me, guys--I'll see y'all on Sunday!

Replies to 1.1+1.2; Preview of the next update
So, I figure since Wednesday is Preview Day (at least, I hope I can stick with this!), I should also use this post to reply to everyone that posted in the previous entry, so that they'll be easier to spot. Or until I can be bothered to properly reply to each post. ^^; So, let's do this thing:
erika: Ohohoho, you're gonna hate me so hard because each update will be pretty much all cliffhangers, all the time. Anyway, thank you! I think you'll be pretty pleased with what will go down in the next few weeks.
Hunty: Believe it or not, you're at the beginning now...so to speak. I'm still (slowly) working on character bios, but for now you don't really need to catch up on anything.
Brett: OH SHI--
Thank you! I'd like to be able to stick with it, as working on the old webcomic did some wonders for my skills.
satia: I'm glad you like the new layout better (the general consensus seems to agree as well). Sure, it's not pretty, but you're right; it does bring more attention the pages, and that's why everyone's here, right?
Psychoblue: Well, I drew my influences from quite a few artists over the years, so thank you. I would say something modest in regards to your comment about working for the big two, but I can recall some artists I know whose styles were pretty amateurish when they started out, only to improve immensely as time went on.
Sarah: It missed you too. ^.~
Rennard: Yes, yes you can!
I really appreciate your comment in regards to my characters. Even in the 2+ year hiatus I took from working on this, I just couldn't let the boys go (as evidenced by the printed books that I still need to send you. And then some.). I think I've really gotten a better handle of them now, but I'll let you be the judge of that.
And yes; soon we will see Chris. And usually where there is Chris, Dante isn't far behind.
...or is that Seong-Ho?
Giuly_Chan: Thank you! You can thank my high school art teacher for really driving home the importance of shading technique! As for my faces, I have always enjoyed drawing expressions--it really helps keep my interest in my comics during non-action sequences, and I hope it keeps people interested as well since even though nothing is happening per se, the characters maintain an interest through their questionably winning personalities. :D
Alright! It's time to show a little teaser for the next page set, which will be 1.3 and 1.4:

...for those familiar with the old continuity, the schoolgirls are back, and more relevant than ever. For those new to the series, there's schoolgirls! You'll learn more about them this Sunday!
